The use of PHEV (plug-in electric hybrid) technology will enable our vehicles to achieve in excess of 100 miles per gallon. A PHEV is powered by a technically advanced battery and has two options for recharging: it may either be plugged-in while parked or use a small on-board internal combustion engine to provide recharging while driven. If driven average distances and plugged in, the on-board engine will see infrequent use, differing from currently marketed hybrid vehicles which use a battery but is powered a conventional gasoline engine much of the time.

Visionary Vehicles' PHEVs will also employ both an electric motor and an efficient gas engine but will rely on the electric motor ONLY to power the vehicle, reserving the gas engine to re-generate a charge in the batteries while driving.

Unlike existing electric vehicles, our PHEVs will not be limited by the range of its batteries because it is equipped with a small on-board gas engine and generator. The vehicle's range is expected to be about 800 miles with a full tank, the generator engaging only after the batteries have been partially discharged, which is expected to be 50 miles. After traveling its full range, or at any time in-between, the PHEV can be refueled at any gas station and immediately resume driving, continuing to rely on the generator, while its battery recharges.
